We are working with a range of device partners who are all currently involved in developing YouView devices. This will stimulate an open market for devices in the UK giving viewers the widest possible choice at competitive prices. Representing some of the world's leading device manufacturers they have all demonstrated technical expertise in bringing high quality consumer electronics products to market and have committed their resources to developing a YouView device.

    Humax supports YouView's aim to give viewers greater freedom to control their daily TV viewing experience. Developing common standards for Connected TV devices is also a positive step, and Humax believes that this will help guarantee a consistent and quality service for viewers that is reflective of UK broadcasting standards. It will also stimulate the development of a greater range of devices for people to choose from. Humax's understanding of the digital TV market, its technical expertise and proven ability to deliver state-of-the-art set-top boxes that meet consumer needs will ensure YouView is supported by the very best technology.

IPTV will play a major role in the future of home entertainment and YouView will be a significant contributor in building 'Digital Britain'.

It will afford customers new television services via a set-top box and a broadband connection without a subscription, and go a way to democratise catch-up television and video recording. YouView marks a significant opportunity also for the crossover of television and internet content. Huawei is delighted to be selected as Device Partner for this ambitious project, and to have the opportunity to play a part in the development of conventional TV functionality, IP media support and digital home networking in the UK.

    Vestel is working with Cabot Communications, a market leader in providing tailored DVB middleware solutions for the digital TV industry, on its development of a YouView device.
