YouView is set to be first home for Sony’s kids player

Sony Pictures Television Networks hugely-popular portfolio of kids channels will come together as a new 7 day, catch-up service launching on YouView today.

Top shows from SPTN’s kids channels, POP, Tiny Pop and KIX – ranging from Angry Birds to Lego Friends – will be housed in a new dedicated player, offering seven day catch-up with scroll back and search functionality.

YouView is set to be the first home for Sony’s kids player and is also the first player to launch since the roll out of YouView’s new software update. Leveraging YouView’s Cloud technology and image-led interface rendered in HTML 5, the player will be seamlessly integrated into YouView’s slicker and faster user experience.

“Our portfolio of children’s channels is the number 1 commercial kids’ network within the UK free-to-air market” said Kate Marsh, Executive Vice President, Western Europe, International Networks. “Adding POP, Tiny Pop and KIX shows to YouView via our new player, allows more children and families to enjoy great content and colourful characters whenever it suits them.”

David Faulkner, Head of Corporate and Business Development, YouView said: “Sony Networks’ new kids player is a great addition to our already strong line up of Players and Apps. We strive to offer content for all ages as well as families and the catch-up content from POP, Tiny Pop and KIX helps to grow our offering.”

The service will be free across all YouView connected devices including BT TV and TalkTalk TV homes and caters for boys and girls aged 4 – 10 years old. Kids across the UK will be able to enjoy popular content, including Power Rangers Dino Super Charge!, Lego Friends, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Angry Birds, whenever they want.

Sony Networks’ kids player launches on YouView on 10th January 2017.
