YouView is an on demand TV service with over 70 live digital channels. It seamlessly combines seven day catch­up on BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and Demand 5 with a library of on demand television programmes, films and radio. A range of quality content is available via on demand players from Netflix, Now TV, milkshake!, UKTV Play, STV and S4C. YouView has record, pause and rewind TV functionality as well as a simple search and more.

Your YouView box connects to the internet which allows new features and content providers to be regularly added ensuring your box is always up to date.

YouView is offered as part of broadband subscription bundles from TalkTalk, BT and Plusnet. It is also available to buy subscription ­free from all major retailers and many independent electrical stores as well as integrated in a range of Sony Android TVs.

With a YouView box, you get everything Freeview offers – plus a whole lot more, including:

There are 3 ways to get YouView.

YouView is available in all major retailers and many independent electrical stores including John Lewis, Currys Digital, Argos, Tesco, Amazon, Richer Sounds, Euronics and Maplins.

YouView is available as part of broadband bundle through TalkTalk, BT and Plusnet.

YouView is also available on a range Sony Android TV’s.

To enjoy the full YouView experience you need good digital TV coverage and a recommended Broadband speed of 3Mb/s.

Discover

Not sure what to watch, then Discover allows viewers to access YouView’s library of On Demand programmes, series, and films. YouView will show you popular series that may interest you or through our genres and subgenres you can refine what takes your fancy.

Search

Search is one of the most powerful features on YouView, by leveraging the data from ALL partners, you are able to search for Titles, Actors or even Directors, we will show you all related items, so if your chosen actor has also been on a chat show, we will include that in the results.

Mini guide

The Mini guide is another powerful feature, so much more than a simple “Now and Next”. You can perform all the functions of the main programme guide, scroll backwards in time to play on demand content and also scroll through channels to see what is on.

More episodes

You can use the programme information to find more episodes of the shows you like. Whether you’re watching a show on live TV or just browsing the EPG you can use YouView to find all related episodes.

There are three ways to get YouView, from a high street electrical retailer for a one­off payment, as part of a phone & broadband package from BT, Plusnet or TalkTalk or integrated in a range of Sony TV’s.

Yes. If you have a High Definition (HD) TV, you can watch HD channels through YouView.

Some providers also offer HD On Demand programmes, which we recommend you watch if you have a higher broadband line speed and a generous usage allowance. Make sure you connect your HD TV to the YouView box using an HDMI cable.

Simply put, Ultra HD is a clearer picture. Ultra HD uses 4,000 pixels to show you a sharper, brighter, more beautiful picture. 4 times the resolution of Full HD.

This picture technology is now being built into most new TV’s and you might see it referenced as 4K or UHD for short. It just depends on the brand that’s using it.
